Volume II, Issue II*The fresh dirt on the MUD*February 22, 1999
IntroductionFebruary has been a busy month, there have been a fair amount of changes and additions.

I would ask all of you to post player reviews at www.mudconnect.com and www.gamecommandos.com. Midnight recently posted a balanced review on Mudconnect, and our newbie traffic nearly doubled.

We are having a contest! In preparation for our advertising campaign we need a banner. Look at www.malevolence.com/image/banner5.jpg Come up with something inventive to put in the blank space on the left of the banner. If it is text, mud mail it to Shwaine. If you have a graphic, finger Shwaine to get her email and email it to her. The prize will be one wish of your choice (within reason).

Cracker has added a threaded message board to his website. You can find it at http://www.teleport.com/~jmcgrott/wwwboard/intro.html.

Your RequestsAs suggested by Arathorne and many others, stores will no longer purchase worn or wielded items.

As suggested by Serraph the fountain in the center of Harborsides town square has been renamed to make giving directions to newbies easier.

As suggested by Icicle an Opal has been given to Otis. This item will allow any player to detect alignment on a monster. You have to get magic detected on it to find out the trigger word.

Mudlib ChangesIn our never ending struggle to provide a player friendly environment, a couple of changes have been made. After you are idle for more than 5 minutes, you wont be able to be in combat. This is to keep AI's from killing idle players (though in my opinion if you are going to go idle you should go somewhere safe first). Secondly if you lose your link, combat will stop. If either of these get abused they will be removed.

Captain Ahab has now added Skavenblight to the list of places that the good ship Pequod stops at.

There are more good aligned monsters of around level 15 in Xanadu city.

The reboot time has been extended from 3 days to 5 days.

A couple more rooms have been added to the undersea Sahuagin area near Amfipyron city, written by Fury.

A small area, suitable for low level players has been added. This area is called Dead Man's Bayou, and it is located north of the Will O' Wisp on the road through Twilight.

Did You Know...that you can find out how long until reboot by using the uptime command? This command shows how long the mud has been up, and by subtracting that from the 5 days between reboots, you get your answer.

that by partying with other players close to your level you can gain much more experience?

UpcomingLook for Ritz's first area, the Hotel Aceldama, to open in the mountains north of Harborside city in the next day or so. It is a very detailed and nice piece of work.
