IntroductionOkay, I will admit it. I have been terribly lazy and haven't put out an issue of this newsletter for quite a while. That isn't to say that stuff hasn't been happening on the mud, but I simply have been busy with other stuff to report it. That I now rectify.
Mudlib ChangesLegend has it that deep in the hostile swamps of Baator, where the Stormvermin roam and the Swamp Dragons prowl, an entire city full of Skaven have been plotting the downfall of civilization. This area was written by Cin.

Newbies no longer automatically start off in the Fighters guild. There is a Newbie guild, led by Bob the Clueless, that lets new players advance some of the skills from each guild to a low level without actually joining a class. The charge for joining an initial guild is now waived as well.

Shaine has written a 3rd version of the Wheel of Misfortune, a much better one in terms of memory usage. The old one ate memory like a hog. The new features are:

  • Wisdom is now affected.
  • Money rewarded is now random
  • Added a counter so players can see how much was spent at the wheel since the last reboot ("look chest" command)
  • Made the gypsy take a 10% cut on each spin
  • Made the money strings displayed in platinum, gold, etc coins
  • Made the wheel stop spinning and reset if the person leaves the room
  • Added halflings to the race changes


Did You Know...that the uptime command will show you how long the mud has been up? Malevolence reboots every 3 days, so with the uptime command it is easy to figure out how long until the next reboot.

The ghost of Talana was charged with assault and battery on a Girl, and sentenced to 50 seconds in jail.
