Volume I, Issue VIII *The fresh dirt on the MUD* October 18, 1998
Introduction(Oh No!)October 14th at midnight, trying to get the full amount of memory to register, we accidentally blew the server out of the water for about 12 hours.

What about those message boards? We have many of them scattered about the realms for different purposes, and the most popular ones get used about twice a month. How about posting hints for other players, gripes, humor, questions or anything else?

Now Playing, Your RequestsWhen a player looks at another player, the person being looked at will now get a message. Suggested by Icicle.

Mudlib ChangesThe full 128 megs on the server is now being used, and we will be going 3 days between reboots. If you find monsters that are not repoping, use the bug command to report them and they will be fixed. The longer time between reboots will also mean that more extensive use of the bury command should happen to keep the roads from being choked with clutter.

There is a brew command. It is usable by mages over level 20. It will allow a mage to brew a potion for a passive spell. You will need a bottle, and whatever components the spell requires. Look at help brew for the details.

Vampires will no longer be able to drain their victims to death. When a target is drained below a certain level you won't be able to drain it any further.

Area ChangesThe sewers beneath the city of Harborside have had descriptions put into them, and wil be stocked with slimy creatures fit for level 3 through 9 players.

The Underdark domain has opened! Look for an entrance off of the north road out of Harborside city. There may be another hidden entrance lurking about... You wont be able to explore this entire domain without a certain item, and no I wont tell you what it is. Coded by Miette and containing over 150 rooms, this detailed area gets truly twisted and bizarre. You may want to be certain that you have some sort of warp or teleport available before entering the heart of the Underdark.

The guilds have been removed from Deepheart. You must go to Harborside City to advance skills and levels. The guilds will be removed from Oceana soon as well. This is to pave the way for an improved skills system.

Did You KnowThere are search, smell, and listen commands? Search will sometimes uncover a hidden item or door, the chance for success is based on your intelligence. Search by itself will search the room you are in, but some areas allow you to 'search tree' or 'search rock'. Smell and listen sometimes give clues to an area, or at the least humorous messages.Enjoy the level of detail that you can find.

That you can simplify using bags with the alias command? For example:
alias chug get $*$ from bag,drink $*$,drop bottle,bury bottle
will allow you to 'chug beer', 'chug spirits', or what have you with one easy command. Help alias gives details on syntax.

That you can use the plan command to change the plan that people see when they finger you?

Real Stories of the Bug PatrolHelp manuals will now show a list of all the manuals that are available. Many of these manuals contain detailed information helpful in playing.

Since several if you had been singling out the Chainmail of Darkness as causing login problems, it has been removed. I personally doubt that the Chainmail has anything to do with it, since it is nothing more than regular armour. I would expect the true cause to be overloaded players hoarding items. Try using the count command before logging off, and reducing the number of items that you log out with to around 60.

The many runtime errors that the AI's were spamming the bug log with have been repaired. Now the log will actually be usable without having to grep it.

UpcomingZaknefein is working on a newbie school area which will teach the inexperienced mudder about how the world works, and give tutelage on using the more important commands.

Ritz is rewriting help files to make them more useful and concise. Expect to see the quality of the help files improve.
